It is wonderful to hear these voices that I recorded decades ago during the war.  These all came from Phoenix Island in the middle of the Mekong.  The large bell is the temple bell that was rung day and night and thus became a part of any recording I made there.  I love the way Benzola  shaped them into a stream running against that frenetic background of (gamelan?) ringing and clanging at great nervous speed.   If anyone want to read up on this Vietnamese folk tradition, take a look at my Ca Dao Vietnam: Vietnamese Folk Poetry (Copper Canyon Press, 2003) which has a good introduction to this singing tradition.  --John Balaban
